Russ Henning teaches applied French horn at MCC. In 1975, his teacher Nancy Fako (Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera orchestras) referred a few of her younger students to him, and he has been teaching horn and trumpet privately ever since.

Henning is a founding member of Winds Off The Lake - McHenry County's premiere woodwind quintet, and CorCorps - the McHenry County area horn choir. He appears each summer with the Woodstock City Band, and works regularly with the orchestra of Voices in Harmony - Crystal Lake's community chorus. Henning has also performed with the Harper Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Most Sunday mornings, he can be found playing trumpet in his church.

He was a school service representative for Karnes Music Company and Piano Trends Music for many years, and has recently served in that capacity with Breber Music Company in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
