Work-Study (Student Employment)
The MCC Work-Study program offers you employment opportunities on campus. These opportunities are a great way to develop a resume and gain valuable work experience while earning a paycheck. Many positions can be tailored to fit class schedules
If you're interested in participating in the Work-Study Program and are unsure if you qualify for the federal program, review the information below and/or contact the Office of Financial Aid for additional information.
Institutional Work-Study (IWS):
IWS is a campus-funded program that provides you with financial assistance with post-secondary education expenses. The IWS program allows you to earn a paycheck through part-time employment.; You may work up to 20 hours a week and are guaranteed to earn federal minimum wage for the duration of your employment. You're encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate that you're interested in the work-study program.
Qualifying for IWS - you're required to maintain enrollment and a 2.0 GPA during each semester, including summer.
Federal Work-Study Opportunities (FWS):
FWS is a federally-funded program in the United States that provides you with financial assistance with post-secondary education expenses. The FWS program allows you to earn a paycheck through part-time employment. You may work up to 20 hours a week and are guaranteed to earn federal minimum wage for the duration of your employment. In general, you are not permitted to work in FWS positions during scheduled class times.
Qualifying for FWS - you're required to maintain enrollment and a 2.0 GPA during each semester, including summer.
Student employment opportunities typically include positions in administrative offices, academic departments, athletics, the MCC Café, information technology, and other campus locations. Students with work-study included in their financial aid offer letter have priority for all on-campus positions.
