Photography and Videography

Photography

Photography helps us tell compelling stories about student success.

The photographs you take should be reflective of the energy and enthusiasm found at MCC.

Tips for capturing great photos at your event:

  • Take action shots. While a handful of posed photos are okay, the majority of your photos should feel authentic and unstaged. Action photos tell a much more interesting story!
  • Get up close and personal. Photos of people in a large room doesn’t reveal the tone or excitement of the event. Smaller groups of people interacting can convey more a much more powerful message.
  • Mix up your shots. Take a variety of full body, medium, and head shots. Make sure you’re capturing people’s faces and not their backs!
  • Plan your photo composition. Groups of 3-5 people in a landscape (horizontal) setting makes for a great photo.
  • Try to avoid unflattering candid moments. People don’t love to be photographed while eating or making strange faces.
  • Don’t linger in one spot. Walk around to get a variety of shots and perspectives. This also ensures you’re not blocking anyone’s view for too long!
  • Showcase the campus. If possible, incorporate recognizable campus buildings and landmarks in your photos.
