Colin Morosanu

When MCC student Colin Morosanu was searching for an internship, he was excited to find an opportunity at local business No Sugar Momma. The internship was a perfect match for his program of study in graphic design—but he didn’t know that it would also be a chance to pursue his passion for filmmaking.
Morosanu found the internship through MCC’s Hire a Scot job board, then connected with No Sugar Momma owner Laurie Urbancik to discuss the opportunity.
“I was looking for an internship related to what I’m studying at MCC,” Morosanu said. “But it didn’t hurt that I would also be dealing with tasty and nutritious treats.”
Urbancik connected with Morosanu over his passion for filmmaking and creating other types of communications.
“He was very excited about the job,” she said. “I enjoyed his enthusiasm and thought he would be a great fit for the role.”
Morosanu started working at No Sugar Momma in January 2024. In the role, he designs social media posts, works on packaging designs, and has created several flyers and ads, including for Natural Awakenings magazine.
“No Sugar Momma has been the perfect internship opportunity,” he said. “The work really suits me, and I get to help a local business grow.”
“Colin is amazing with his creativity and the professional-looking communications he produces for No Sugar Momma,” Urbancik said. “I tell him what I’m looking for, and he can quickly and accurately pull together an image, document, etc. He is thoughtful, polite, and kind. He cares about what he does, and he is so excited to pursue his dream of filmmaking. I enjoy spending time with him, and it’s been amazing to watch him grow his skills through this internship.”
Morosanu was also inspired by Urbancik’s decision to leave corporate America to get healthy and create No Sugar Momma. Over the last few months, Morosanu has written a 60-page screenplay and has been filming, directing, editing, and coaching actors in his movie No Sugar—All Love, which will be completed in November 2024.
“It is hugely inspirational that Colin is bringing my story to life in his film,” Urbancik said.
After all the learning opportunities and achievements he’s made over the past few months, Morosanu would strongly recommend MCC’s internship program to other students.
“I think it’s a valuable experience for anyone,” he said. “Just jump in and go for it—really show your employer what you can do. Don’t be afraid to bring up ideas and show them your passion. At the same time, really listen to your manager and coworkers and learn as much as you can.”
Urbancik also enjoyed the experience and recommends MCC’s Career Services to “any and every employer.”
“The students are earnestly looking for opportunities to get real, on-the-job experience, and employers get a very cost-effective solution to getting work done for our companies,” she said. “The MCC staff are helpful, and the atmosphere of the school is very exciting and upbeat. I really enjoy going to campus for meetings and I am excited to see the students get real opportunities to enhance their education. It’s inspiring to me too. I’m glad I pursued this internship and participated in the job fair. I received so many benefits and I’m genuinely grateful.”
