Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College to Present Macbeth

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College is proud to present William Shakespeare’s tragedy about ambition and betrayal, Macbeth, directed by Jay Geller.

This gripping production explores Macbeth’s devastating descent into madness after a trio of witches prophesies Macbeth’s rise to the throne. Spurred by blind ambition and the relentless passion of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth chooses a blood-soaked path that tears a kingdom apart. Macbeth is a timeless story that speaks directly to the political and moral anxieties of our own era.

Macbeth is directed by Jay Geller (Kildeer). The production team includes assistant director Chelsea Boesiger (Crystal Lake), set designer Dan Frank (Woodstock), lighting designer Nicole Weber (Woodstock), costume designer Carol Foreman (Cary), stage manager Molly Stockwell (Johnsburg), prop designer Kestrel Domann (Woodstock), stage combat and intimacy coordinator Claire Yearman (Elgin), and sound designer Ace Kopacz (Island Lake). Original music is by Amy Goodnow (Bull Valley), dramaturgy by Ted Hazelgrove (Grayslake), and social media by Josie Hannon-Geller (Kildeer).

The cast includes Satori Beasley, Jonathan Carlson, Rachel Kaminski (McHenry), Rose Carnivele, Preston Tewell (Cary), Shannon Lee Day, Edward Gessert, Holly O’Hair (Woodstock), Graysonn Gonzalez (Spring Grove), Theresa Voge Kaman (Richmond), Hannah Gschwend, Lauren Krelle (Lake in the Hills), Mark Kuhlman (Algonquin), Stephen Pickering (Fox River Grove), Alex Reilly (Huntley), Megan McCarthy-Cook, Kae Schaefer, Adira Zachrel (Crystal Lake), Jake Seelye (Harvard), Ian Streicher (Chicago), and Derrick Wilson (Schaumburg).

Macbeth opens Friday, October 30 at 7 p.m. and runs October 31, November 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 7 p.m. and November 1, 8, and 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students, MCC employees, seniors, alumni, and veterans, and $20 for the general public. It is general seating. Tickets can be purchased here. 

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College is located at 8900 US Hwy 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012. Please Park in Lot C and enter Building E. The theatre will be directly to the right.
