Transfer to MCC

Official transcripts may be:

  • submitted by your previous institution directly to MCC through secure transcript services such as National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment
  • dropped off in person in A260*
  • mailed to MCC Admissions at 8900 U.S. Hwy 14 Crystal Lake, IL 60012*
*Transcripts must remain sealed in the original envelope as provided by the issuing institution to be considered official.

Transcripts emailed by students are not considered official and not eligible for credit transfer.

  • Evaluation of Credits

Credits earned at other regionally accredited colleges/universities for transfer to McHenry County College can be evaluated by sending official transcripts from the institutions you previously attended to the Admissions office. If you attended more than one institution, coursework at each institution is evaluated independently. An official transcript must be requested from each institution.

  • Evaluation of Credit From A Foreign Country

University/college coursework completed outside the United States must be submitted to an organization that specializes in evaluating foreign transcripts.

MCC will accept official evaluations of earned foreign credentials from any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, including Educational Credential Evaluators, Educational Perspectives, and Spantran.

    • You are responsible for all fees associated with credential evaluation.
    • Translated course descriptions must accompany the “Course-by-Course” evaluation report.
    • All documents that you submit, or are submitted on your behalf, become the property of the College, and will not be released to you or any other party.

The Credentials Evaluation Office at MCC will use the results of the evaluation report along with course descriptions to determine the transfer of foreign credit to the College.

Do you have other questions about attending MCC as an international student?

  • How will your courses transfer to MCC?

MCC's transfer equivalency site is intended as a guide for you, the prospective transfer student. Please read the following information before you continue:

The information in our Transfer Equivalency System (TES) is provided as a guide to how classes at your current or former school may transfer to MCC. The fact that a course appears in the list is no guarantee that the course will transfer in your individual case. The final determination of transfer credit acceptance is ultimately made by the credentials evaluation office.

The Credentials Evaluation Office updates our TES frequently. Schools and courses are added to the list on a regular basis.

    • Courses that do not appear in this guide have not yet been evaluated or they are in the process of being evaluated and added to the system.
    • The catalog dates for each institution reflect the latest revision date for transfer equivalencies from that school.
    • Courses are subject to change as catalogs are received or course descriptions change. If you have questions about a specific course, email

Credit For Prior Learning

Increasingly, colleges and universities are recognizing the fact that successful learning is not limited to the formal classroom. MCC has endorsed this principle in various ways that recognize competency and award credit toward graduation for learning acquired outside of the traditional college setting. You may be able to receive college credit for previous coursework, training, or examinations, thus shortening the amount of time it will take to complete a degree.

Students may be awarded up to 30 semester hours of credit (this is the maximum that may be applied to a degree) through any combination of the following assessments.

Students who plan to transfer after MCC should be aware that acceptance of credit for prior learning varies from institution to institution. Consider discussing these credit options with your MCC advisor:
