Coty Reyes: It’s Never Too Late to Start

MCC student Coty Reyes

After more than two decades away from the classroom, Coty Reyes decided to return to college and invest in herself.

Coty enrolled at MCC to improve her skills and secure better job opportunities. Now studying Administrative Office Technologies, she’s working toward earning her Associate in Applied Science degree and building a stronger future.

Coty says her biggest inspiration to return to school came from close to home. “My children inspired me,” she said. “They’re both MCC students, too.”

Starting with keyboarding and ESL transition classes, Coty gained confidence and skills she never had before. “I started with no experience in keyboarding,” she said. “Thanks to MCC and the team, I now know the basics and feel proud and thankful as I work toward my goals.”

Support from MCC’s Adult Education and ESL programs also played a key role in her journey, helping her access resources and guidance every step of the way.

Looking back, Coty says simply registering for classes was a milestone in itself. “Being able to register after 24 years is the best decision I’ve made.”

For anyone considering starting their own journey, Coty offers this advice:

“It’s never too late to start, no matter what obstacles you have to go through. Never give up.”
