Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment, live music, food trucks, and more at McHenry County College’s 4th Annual Community Block Party, Sunday, August 30 from Noon – 5 p.m. at the College’s campus, Parking Lot E, 8900 US Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
Food will be available for purchase from Chicago Culinary Kitchen, Soda Squeezed, Taqueria Paloma, and Kona Ice, and beer will be served from Kishwaukee Brewing Company and Sew Hop’d Brewery. The event will feature live music throughout the day by Cornelius and the Sled Dogs (Noon), Hollyy (1:45 p.m.), and Anthem (3:30 p.m.).
There will be a farm stand hosted by MCC’s Carey Center for Agrarian Learning (CCAL), children’s activities provided by MCC’s Kids and College program, and a face painting and henna station. Several MCC programs will be onsite to share information with attendees, including registration support, academic and career offerings, University Center opportunities, and more. Attendees can also take a self-guided tour of several campus spaces and enjoy lawn games, a photobooth, raffles, and prizes. Limited seating will be available, so guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
"We're proud to see the Community Block Party continue to grow each year," said Brian DiBona, Executive Director of the Friends of MCC Foundation. "It's a chance to celebrate with our alumni and neighbors, welcome new faces to campus, and showcase the people, programs, and partnerships that make MCC such an important part of McHenry County."
All MCC alumni (anyone who has completed at least one three-credit course at MCC) are encouraged to stop by the Alumni Oasis to reconnect with fellow alumni and receive a free gift. A special gift will be given to the first 100 alumni. There will also be opportunities to donate to the Friends of MCC Foundation to support MCC’s Student Success Fund and related services.
