MCC Block Party Raises $20,000 for Students

The Friends of McHenry County College (MCC) Foundation raised over $20,000 during its 3rd Annual Community Block Party on Sunday, July 27. More than 450 people attended the event, which showcased MCC’s campus and programs, provided a chance for alumni to connect with each other and MCC’s Alumni Association, and featured family-friendly entertainment, live music, food trucks, and more.

“It was incredible to see so many people come out to support MCC and engage with one another,” said Brian DiBona, Executive Director of the Friends of MCC Foundation. “Events like this show how strong our community is and how much people value the role the College plays in their lives.”

Attendees had the chance to explore a few of MCC’s programs through hands-on activities and tours, including a “Kids Zone” hosted by the Kids and College program, a farm market stand from the Center for Agrarian Learning, and shows at the MCC Planetarium. Guests toured the Liebman Science Center and Foglia Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation; connected with services such as Admissions, Adult Education, and the University Center; and interacted with MCC athletic teams. The event also featured a special presentation of a Ford truck by Buss Ford in McHenry, donated to MCC’s Automotive Program.

Profits from the Block Party supported MCC’s Student Success Fund, which helps students with unexpected expenses that may impact their ability to stay in school.

MCC thanks its generous event sponsors, including Comcast, Regal Rexnord, the Foglia Family Foundation, and Snap-On. Special appreciation goes to MCC supporter Kevin Krak, who planned and coordinated the day’s music, and to True Value Distribution and Star 105.5 for their auction support.
