Art Faculty - Amanda Voltz

Amanda Voltz is an artist working primarily in painting and drawing. Voltz received her MFA in Painting from Northern Illinois University (2011) and her BFA in Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Art Education Certification (K-12) from Millikin University (2008). She was born in Geneseo, Illinois and has since resided in the west suburbs of Chicago, IL. She's been teaching drawing and art appreciation at MCC and at Elgin Community College since 2012.

While studying at NIU, Amanda was granted multiple assistantships including positions as a teaching and studio assistant in foundations and painting programs. She has been a recipient of numerous awards including the Marilyn Sjoholm Student Scholarship (2010), Marvin L. Klaven Art Award (2008), David S. Monroe Art Award (2007), Dorothy Sellers Art Award (2006), and in 2004 was awarded a scholarship from the Art Institute of Chicago to their residency program at Oxbow in Saugatuck, Michigan.

She has participated in many solo and group shows. Her recent solo exhibition, Play-grounds, showcased in 2011. Voltz recently participated in group shows Love Under Funnel Cake and Vengaboys, Space Club HQ, Chicago (2013) and community, an exhibition at the MDW Art Fair, Chicago (2012). In 2010, she was a part of Wet Paint 2010: National Painting Exhibition at Zhou B. Art Center, Chicago.
