The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) is proud to announce auditions for the Spring 2025 production of the new musical comedy I’m No Shakespeare with book, music, and lyrics by Michael Hillstrom.
I’m No Shakespeare tells the story of Kinny, a guy trying to find the love of his life. Navigating the world of all types of dating and aided by his friends, Kinny explores the question many people face: Do we need a significant other, or can we find happiness living a single life? This musical comedy illustrates the craziness and insanity of dating in the 21st century.
Auditions will be held on Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2 from 6–9:30 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, December 3 from 6–10 p.m. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 12 and be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6–9:30 p.m. and 5–8:30 p.m. on Sundays. Performances will run two weekends: February 27 and 28 and March 6 and 7 at 7 p.m., and March 1 and 8 at 2 p.m.
Please prepare a 1–2-minute upbeat song for the audition, along with sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. In addition, please dress to move for a dance audition. Roles are open to MCC students and community members of all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and body types.

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College is located at 8900 US Hwy 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012. Please park in Lot C and enter Building E. The theatre will be directly to the right.
