McHenry County College to Host Community Block Party July 27

Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment, live music, food trucks, and more at McHenry County College’s 3rd Annual Community Block Party, Sunday, July 27 from Noon – 5 p.m. at the College’s campus, Parking Lot E, 8900 US Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Food will be available for purchase from Tievoli Pizza Bar, Kona Ice, Midwest Smoke BBQ, and Del Toro Tacos, and the Friends of MCC Foundation Alumni Association tent will serve refreshing beverages and beer from local breweries. The event will feature live music throughout the day by The Double Standard (Noon), HILLBILLY ROCKSTARZ (1:45 p.m.), and Mock Star (3:30 p.m.).

There will also be a farm market stand hosted by MCC’s Center for Agrarian Learning (CAL) and children’s activities provided by MCC’s Kids and College program. Several MCC programs will also be onsite to share information with attendees, including registration support, academic and career offerings available, University Center at MCC materials, and more. Limited seating will be available, so guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

“We’re excited to host the Block Party on campus this year, giving guests a chance to experience the College atmosphere while celebrating with the community,” said Christina Haggerty, Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Development. “It’s a fun, laid-back opportunity to reconnect with alumni, welcome new visitors, and highlight how MCC continues to positively impact so many lives through education.”

All MCC alumni (anyone who has completed at least one three-credit course at MCC) will receive a free gift by attending the event. There will also be opportunities to donate to the Friends of MCC Foundation to support MCC’s Student Success Fund and related services.

The event will also feature a special presentation of a Ford truck by Buss Ford in McHenry, donated to MCC’s Automotive Program.

Admission is free and registration is not required. Find more information about the Block Party here.
