The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) is proud to announce its upcoming production of Legally Blonde the Musical (book by Heather Hach and music by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin), which opens Friday, March 7 and runs through Sunday, March 23.
Based on the film Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde the Musical tells the story of Elle Woods, a Delta Nu sorority girl with a love of fashion and style, as she follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back. As she works to prove herself to others, Elle realizes her worth extends beyond her pretty face and bubbly personality. Defying the “dumb blonde” stereotype, Elle holds true to her values and challenges the norms of Harvard Law.
MCC’s production of Legally Blonde the Musical will be directed by Jay Geller (Kildeer) with choreography by Maggie McCord (Crystal Lake) and musical direction by Michael Hillstrom (Woodstock), lighting design by Nicole Weber (Woodstock), costume design by Carol Foreman (Cary), technical direction by Chris Adkins (Woodstock), scenic painting by Holly Adkins (Woodstock), assistant directing by Spencer White (Woodstock) and Chelsea Boesiger (McHenry), stage management by Mailin Contreras (Woodstock), and social media coordination by Josie Hannon-Geller (Kildeer).
The cast includes Vienna Logan (Barrington); Clara Muñiz Grijota, Kae Schaefer, and Mary Pawlicki (Crystal Lake); Grace Corwine (East Dundee); Stephen Pickering (Fox River Grove); Izzy Griffin (Hampshire); Addie Keller and Jake Seelye (Harvard); Kruthi Aiyer (Huntley); Adelynn Kuhlmeier (Lakemoor); Amanda Lauteri, Macky Leech, Liam O’Callaghan, Nathan Bodecker, and Bridget Nugent (McHenry); and Morgan Tolentino-Siazon, Emily Kunash, Reede Norlie, Jeffery Ringpis, Kai Roberts, and Kelsey Waughon (Woodstock).
Legally Blonde the Musical opens Friday, March 7 and runs March 8-9, 14-16, and 21-23. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday performances begin at 2 p.m. There will also be an evening performance on Sunday, March 16 at 7 p.m.
