Prospective College Students Invited to MCC Open House March 20

Deciding what to study in school or wondering how to take your next step? Learn more about the career paths, programs, and resources available at McHenry County College (MCC) at “Meet MCC” on Wednesday, March 20 from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at the College, 8900 US Highway 14 in Crystal Lake.

During this open house format event, parents and prospective students can chat with faculty and staff and meet with representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Activities, Access and Disability Services, and more.

“We know that making a college decision can be overwhelming, so we’re available to walk students through the process and help them plan for their goals,” said Kristen Mueller, Director of Admissions and Recruitment at MCC. “During this event, students will have the opportunity to make important face-to-face connections and ask their individual questions. It’s also a perfect way for those unsure about their next steps to see all our available options and pathways of study.”

The event is for all types of students, including high school, returning adults, and transfer students.

“Attendees will be able to learn how they can earn a bachelor’s or advanced degree close to home with the University Center at MCC,” Mueller said. “We’ll also have information about all the programs available at our new Foglia Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation, which opens in the fall.”

In addition to information about degrees, certificates, and resources, prospective students are also invited to attend an interactive tour of the campus, sample food from current MCC Culinary students, and check out the College’s Planetarium.

“It’s a great opportunity for students to get a feel for the campus and envision the skills they’ll be developing here,” Mueller said.

Information about study abroad, dual credit, veterans services, scholarships, student life, and athletics will also be available. Attendees will have the chance to receive prizes, giveaways, and view demonstrations.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. Attendees can also complete a free application.
