E2E to Host Luncheon September 28

The Education to Empowerment (E2E) scholarship and mentoring program at MCC will be hosting its third annual EmpowHER luncheon on Thursday, September 28 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at The District in Richmond, IL.

In addition to lunch and a program, the event features a silent auction, a complimentary bar, and opportunities to interact with other attendees. Proceeds will go toward E2E scholarships for MCC students.

“We invite all women in the community to join us for this event,” said Jessica Rizza, development coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation. “It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about the E2E program, meet scholarship recipients, and make valuable connections.”

The alumni speaker at the event will be Amberley Kemic, a former E2E scholarship recipient who is also a cancer survivor and clinical research nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

“E2E helped me financially and gave me support to push me toward my goals,” said Kemic. “It came at a time I really needed it, as I was recovering both emotionally and financially from a long battle with cancer—which had also inspired me to embark on a new career path.”

Last year, more than 125 individuals attended the event and raised more than $20,000 for E2E.

Education to Empowerment’s mission is to empower students to reach their fullest potential and achieve economic independence through education, mentoring, and financial support. The E2E scholarship provides $10,000 in funding for each student that can be applied toward tuition, books, and fees for a recipient’s last year at MCC and first year at an accredited four-year institution.

E2E originally began in 2013 with the goal of bringing together 100 women in McHenry County. Each woman donates $1,000 each year. To date, the E2E program has awarded $620,000 in scholarships to 67 MCC students.

The luncheon is $55 per person. Those interested are encouraged to purchase tickets by September 15 and invite friends to attend with them. Purchase tickets and learn more about the event.
