My Sister’s Dress Sale Raises More than $10,000, Proceeds Split Between Education to Empowerment Scholarship Program and Home of the Sparrow

The Friends of MCC Foundation recently teamed up with the nonprofit organization My Sister’s Dress to raise funds for scholarships and make prom more affordable for students.

More than 1,000 dresses were donated for the organization’s first sale following the pandemic. They were priced at just $25 each.

“Education to Empowerment was honored to be selected as a beneficiary of the My Sister’s Dress fundraiser,” said Jessica Rizza, development coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation. “This event was created to support and empower women, and that is exactly what E2E’s mission is as well. It is a great partnership, and we are thankful for the generous donation.”

The sale, which happened on February 25 at MCC, raised more than $10,000. The proceeds were split between Home of the Sparrow and the Education to Empowerment scholarship and mentoring program presented by the Friends of MCC Foundation.

Education to Empowerment (E2E) provides $10,000 in funding for each student that can be applied toward tuition, books, and fees for a recipient’s last year at MCC and first year at an accredited four-year institution.
