People in Need Forum Returns to McHenry County College Jan. 28

The 22nd annual People in Need Forum is set to take place Saturday, January 28 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at McHenry County College (MCC). More than 100 exhibitors will attend the Forum to showcase important community resources available to help those in need.

Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done by visiting www.mchenry.edu/pin.

“We’re so excited to once again offer this event in person since the first time since 2020,” said Jessica Rizza, development coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation. “It’s a great way to make valuable, face-to-face connections and match resources with needs in the community.”

Three breakout sessions will be held at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 12 p.m. respectively. Topics to be addressed in the sessions include mental health; housing; diversity, equity, and inclusion; seniors; health; and more. Speakers will present for 45 minutes and leave time for a 15-minute Q&A at the end of each session. Exhibitor booths will remain open until 1 p.m.

New in 2023, the Forum will offer a youth educational track for middle and high school students. Sessions will include bully prevention, teen dating, and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention training for youth.

The Forum is an excellent opportunity for anyone in the community looking to discover valuable local resources or for those interested in volunteering with a wide variety of organizations.

A PDF of the newly expanded community resource directory, which is the only one of its kind in the Chicago area, will be available for download online. Attendees will also receive a hard copy.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. Interested exhibitors can also register at www.mchenry.edu/pin
