Education to Empowerment Women's Scholarship and Mentoring Program to Host Fall Luncheon at Goebbert's

The Education to Empowerment (E2E) women’s scholarship and mentoring program at McHenry County College (MCC) will be hosting their second annual fall luncheon on Thursday, September 22 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at The Venue at Goebbert’s in Pingree Grove.

In addition to a lunch and program, the event features a silent auction, complimentary bar, appetizers, live music, and opportunities to interact with other attendees. All proceeds will go toward E2E scholarships for female students at MCC.

“We invite all women in the community to join us for this event,” said Tina Hueppe, executive committee chair of Education to Empowerment. “It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about the E2E program, meet scholarship recipients, and make valuable connections.”

Several E2E members and a recent scholarship recipient will be speaking at the event.

“Last year, more than 100 women attended and raised more than $20,000 to support E2E scholarships,” said Jessica Rizza, Development Coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation. “The highlight of the event was when 2014 E2E scholarship recipient Colleen Duncan shared the story of how the scholarship changed her life and put her on a path to success. We look forward to welcoming even more women to the event this year.”

Education to Empowerment’s mission is to empower women to reach their fullest potential and achieve economic independence through education, mentoring, and financial support. The E2E scholarship provides $10,000 in funding for each student that can be applied toward tuition, books, and fees for a recipient’s last year at MCC and first year at an accredited four-year institution.

E2E originally began in 2013 with the goal of bringing together 100 influential women in McHenry County. Each woman donates $1,000 each year. To date, the E2E program has awarded $520,000 in scholarships to 57 female MCC students.

The luncheon is $40 for E2E members and $50 for non-members. Dress attire is fall chic. To purchase tickets and learn more about the event, visit www.mchenry.edu/rsvp
