In MCC’s art history program, you’ll learn the rich history of art and so much more. Gain an appreciation for different types of artistic media and build critical skills in analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and organization. With classes such as Art History I and II, History of Photography, Studies in Contemporary Art, Non-Western Art History, and History of Graphic Design, you’ll learn to research and evaluate artwork and examine historical, social, and technological factors that contribute to the function and meaning of various works of arts.
MCC's art department fosters a vibrant community of student artists, and our studio space, instruction, and course offerings are diverse and up-to-date. After earning their Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Fine Arts (AFA), our students often continue their education at a wide range of public and private universities.
Degrees in the fine arts can lead to a variety of careers including art-making, exhibit design and installation, art education, art therapy, and consulting in a variety of contexts—from newsrooms to film sets.
