Sexual Misconduct Assistance and Reporting
The College is committed to providing a safe and respectful educational and employment environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and misconduct on the basis of sex, which includes sexual orientation or gender-related identity.
Sexual discrimination is discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, or gender-related identity. Sex discrimination includes sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and sexual violence.
Report Sexual or Gender-Based Misconduct
At McHenry County College, the Title IX Coordinator oversees the College's response to all complaints alleging sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, and/or sexual misconduct that involve a College student as the victim and/or complainant or as the respondent.
Learn about Student Reporting and Confidentiality
To discuss an incident or concern, go to the Student Affairs Office, A252, or contact the MCC Title IX Coordinator at (815) 479-7572. Copies of the policy and procedures are also available in the Student Resource Center, A247.
Most importantly, if you feel you are a victim of sexual harassment, misconduct or violence:
- Do not blame yourself for being harassed. People do not bring sexual harassment upon themselves or "deserve" to be harassed.
- Do not ignore the harassment, hoping it will go away. This is a common victim reaction, but is not an effective way to deal with a sexual harassment incident.
- Do not keep it to yourself. You are very likely not the only victim, and by speaking up, you may help others as well as yourself.
- Do not delay. Harassment is likely to continue if you delay. MCC policy and procedures strongly urge that a formal complaint be filed with the Student Conduct Officer.
