McHenry County College to Host Voices in Disability Conference

Join McHenry County College (MCC) for an inspiring morning of learning, connection, and community at the first Voices in Disability Conference, held in honor of Disability Awareness Month. The event, hosted by MCC’s Access and Disability Department, will take place Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m.–Noon at the College’s Luecht Auditorium (B170), 8900 US Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

Attendees will have the chance to hear powerful firsthand stories, connect with other professionals and advocates, learn about challenges and solutions in the disability community, and be part of building a more inclusive future. The conference also features keynote speaker Delaney Kinstner, who will share her personal journey of living with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Following the keynote, participants will take part in breakout discussions on topics related to disability, inclusion, and accessibility. These sessions are designed for both community members and professionals in disability-related fields.

“Too often, the voices of people with disabilities are overlooked or spoken for, rather than truly heard,” said Naina Richards, Director of Access and Disability Services at MCC. “Through this conference, we hope to center the stories of those living with disabilities, knowing that by listening to these voices, we can foster greater advocacy and inclusion.”

The event is free and open to the public. Register by October 6 at http://mcc-link.me/VXFH50X2n9Y
