Get started with one class, one goal, or one dream this fall at McHenry County College (MCC). Whether you’re preparing for a new career, planning to transfer to a four-year school, or exploring a new passion, MCC has flexible, affordable options to fit your needs. The Fall semester begins August 18, and registration is still open.
The College offers a wide variety of career and technical programs, associate degrees, and dozens of classes that easily transfer.
“At MCC, we believe every educational journey can start with one decision—one step forward,” said Amy Carzoli, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Services at MCC. “Whether that’s one class to build a new skill or one step toward a degree, our team is here to support you with personalized advising, tutoring, career services, and more. No matter where you’re starting from, you won’t be doing it alone.”
To help prospective students get started, MCC is hosting a new student application event on Tuesday, July 22 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. in Co/Lab B on campus. During this open-house style event, the Admissions team will assist students with starting or completing applications, checking transcripts or test score status, and answering questions about next steps.
“New students can expect same-day acceptance and personal guidance through the enrollment process,” said Carzoli. “It’s a great opportunity to meet with staff, ask questions in real time, and leave feeling confident about your plans.”
Some of the newest offerings at the College include the skilled trade programs in its state-of-the-art Foglia Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation (CATI). Programs available include Architectural and Engineering Design Technology; Automation, Robotics, and Mechatronics; Construction Management; Engineering Technology; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Industrial Maintenance; Industrial Management and Technology; Precision Machining; and Welding and Fabrication.
“These programs are ideal for students who like to work with their hands, solve real-world problems, or gain technical skills that lead directly to in-demand jobs,” added Carzoli. “There are opportunities for people at every stage of their career—those looking to learn a skilled trade for the first time or those who want to change careers or increase their value to current employers.”
Many students are also interested in the College’s Horticulture and Entrepreneurial Agriculture programs, where they can gain hands-on experience in MCC’s on-campus greenhouses and student farm. These programs prepare students for rewarding careers in landscape design, greenhouse management, local food production, and more.
For students looking to complete a bachelor’s or advanced degree locally, MCC also offers convenient pathways through its University Center in Woodstock. The University Center is now enrolling for Fall 2025 programs from educational partners Aurora University, Northern Illinois University, Roosevelt University, and Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Program offerings and details can be found here.
In addition to already offering college education at a fraction of the cost of a four-year school, MCC offers a variety of scholarships, grants, and payment plans to help students pay for school. Financial resources can be found here.
