McHenry County College (MCC) recently released their Q3 Community Enrichment schedule for programs that run July – September 2025.
Whether you're eager to explore a new interest or build on existing skills, MCC offers an extensive selection of classes designed to spark curiosity and personal growth. The latest schedule features a variety of opportunities for all age groups, including hobby and leisure courses, career development programs, and engaging youth offerings.
Some of the personal development classes include courses in claymaking, painting, and drawing; French history and language; Italian wines; playing Blackjack for fun; and a class for new and expecting parents.
The College is offering a series of clayworking classes in partnership with the Clayworkers’ Guild of Illinois, including the beginner-level “Introduction to Clay,” “Clay Creations” for both beginners and experienced hand builders, and “A Night Out: Carving in Clay” to practice the centuries-old technique of Sgraffito. Many class dates are available in July, August, and September.
Those wanting to take up a new creative hobby can choose from a variety of classes in acrylic painting, watercolors, drawing for beginners, pastel painting and drawing, mandala painting, squeegee scrape art, Sumi-e Japanese black ink art, and more. There are also several themed classes, including “Beginner Pastel Drawing: The Art of Star Wars” on August 12, 26, and September 9, or “Paint Night: Van Gogh Sunflowers” on September 16 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Want more confidence the next time you hit the Blackjack table? Grab some friends and attend “Learn Blackjack the Fun and Easy Way,” offered multiple dates in July, August, and September.
Interested in learning more about the food, culture, and history of Europe? Explore Italy’s 20 diverse wine regions, understand food pairings, and develop your palate in “Italian Wines,” Thursdays, September 18 – October 9, or learn to cook some fantastic French cuisine in “Date Night: A Taste of Summer in France” on August 29. Take several classes in French language and culture, including “Basic French for Everyday and Travel” Thursdays, July 15 – September 2, “Origins and Consequences of the French Revolution” on July 14, “Influence of the French Language and Culture on Vietnam” on October 13, “New France: French Heritage in IL and WI” November 7, or “Celebrate the 150th Year Anniversary of French Impressionism” November 17.
For those expecting a baby or becoming first-time parents, the College is also offering several sessions of “Nurturing Balance” on July 14, August 16, or September 15.
