Registration Open for MCC’s ScotStars Sports Camps

McHenry County College (MCC) has opened registration for its summer sports program, ScotStars. The camp offers sessions in volleyball, softball, and basketball.

The Basketball Camp, offered for girls entering grades 3–8, will be held June 9–11. The camp will provide instruction in fundamental skills of ball handling, passing, shooting, and defense in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will also have the chance to put their skills into action with some fast-paced 3-on-3 games. The camp costs $75 per person.

Volleyball Camp runs June 16–18 and provides instruction on passing, setting, digging, attacking, blocking, and serving. The session for girls in grades 9–12 runs from 8–10 a.m., and 10:30 a.m.–Noon for boys and girls in grades 6–8. The camp for 6–8 graders costs $79 per person and the camp for 9–12 graders costs $99. Specialty camps for setters/hitters and passing/defense are also available in the afternoon on June 16 and cost $35 each. All Volleyball Camps are led by MCC’s volleyball coaching staff.

The Softball Camp, which runs June 23-26, will help players improve their overall game with drills in hitting, infield defense, outfield defense, and pitching. It will be led by MCC softball coaches and players. The program for girls entering grades 6–8 runs from 9–11 a.m., and from 1–3 p.m. for those entering grades 9–11. The camp costs $75 per person.

“Campers get to interact with college coaches and learn new techniques while having fun playing the game with their peers,” said Jared Wacker, Coordinator of Student Athlete Success at MCC. “These camps are perfect for students looking to improve their game or get a little more practice in this summer.”
