Seven faculty members were recently granted tenure status by McHenry County College (MCC). Tenure is awarded to full-time faculty members who have completed a three-year probationary period and have met standards of instructional excellence in support of MCC’s mission and goals.
Among those receiving tenure were Nichole Babcock-Zook, Instructor of Nursing; Jason Boring, Instructor of Manufacturing; Dr. Christopher Davis, Instructor of Anthropology; Steve Dempsey, Instructor of Automotive Technology; Mark Krause, Instructor of Criminal Justice; Kim Tipton, Reference Librarian; and Angela Wallace, Instructor, Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
“We are incredibly proud of these faculty members for reaching this significant milestone,” said Dr. Daniela Broderick, Vice President of Academic Affairs at MCC. “Their commitment to excellence in teaching, dedication to our students, and passion for fostering a positive learning environment make them invaluable members of our community.”
To achieve tenure status, instructors are evaluated in content expertise, pedagogical skills, continued professional growth and development, and commitment to students and the community. They also undergo extensive observations and receive feedback from peers and administrators.
Awarding of tenure by the Board of Trustees signifies that both the faculty and the administration endorse this candidate as having the professional skills and personal qualities to contribute to student learning for many years to come.
