McHenry County College (MCC) recently released their Q2 Community Enrichment schedule for programs that run April – June 2025.
Whether you’re looking to try something new or deepen your skills, MCC offers a wide range of courses for all interests. The latest schedule features a variety of engaging personal development courses tailored to learners of all ages, career-focused programs, and youth activities.
Some of the featured personal development classes include a series of courses in crochet, knitting, and sewing; clay creations; home and garden; improv comedy; and a variety of classes taught by MCC’s expert faculty members.
Those wanting to take up a new hobby or create their own garments can choose from “Beginning Crochet” (Tuesdays, June 3 – July 1), “Beginning Knitting” (Thursdays, June 5 – July 10), “Machine Sewing for Beginners” (Saturdays, April 19 – May 3); or “Quilting for Beginners” (Mondays, April 21 – May 3).
The College is also offering a series of clayworking classes in partnership with the Clayworkers’ Guild of Illinois, including the beginner-level “Introduction to Clay,” “Clay Creations” for both beginners and experienced hand builders, and “A Night Out: Carving in Clay” to practice the centuries-old technique of Sgraffito. Many class dates are available in April, May, and June.
To help you prepare your home and garden for spring, the College has several classes such as “Home Heating and Cooling Systems” (April 3 or 5), “Easy Seed Saving” (April 14), “Basic Vehicle Care” (Tuesdays, May 20 – June 10), and “Mushroom Mission” (May 1 and 3), which combines an engaging indoor lecture and an outdoor search for local mushrooms.
For couples looking for a fun, creative date night, MCC presents an “Improv Comedy Workshop for Couples” April 24 (6 – 8 p.m.) or June 26 (7 – 9 p.m.).
Also new this quarter, several MCC faculty members will be leading classes such as “Podcasting for Beginners” with Jim Stockwell, “Shakespeare’s Major Works” with Dr. Joseph Sullivan, “Music: Popular Styles and Improvisation” with Tara Singer, and guitar classes with Pat Gaughan, among others.
The schedule also includes information about Kids and College summer classes for students entering grades 1 – 9. The program offers unique, engaging classes starting each week from June 2 – August 8.
