Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse Bridge Program

The LPN to RN Bridge course (NUR 125) is designed to assist a Licensed Practical Nurse in transitioning into the role of a Registered Nurse. Areas of study include the role of the professional nurse and the application of the core components of nursing practice to clients experiencing dysfunctional health patterns.

  1. Complete any remaining prerequisites and complete your TEAS exam.
  2. Apply to MCC's LPN to RN Bridge program before registering for the LPN to RN Bridge course (NUR 125).
    • Submit your nursing program application by April 15. Applications are accepted once per year. The online application will be available here between March 1 and April 15.
    • See a sample version of the nursing application
    • MCC will notify you in June regarding acceptance.
  3. Once you successfully complete all components of NUR 125 and you've received your final acceptance into the nursing program, we will waive the NUR 112 and NUR 115 prerequisites and you can enroll in NUR 130 Concepts of Nursing Practice I and NUR 135 Concepts of Nursing Practice II for the following spring.

About the LPN to RN Bridge Program

MCC's Nursing Program is approved by the Illinois Board of Nursing and the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The program is also approved by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), the Board of Higher Education, the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Illinois Office of Education, and the U.S. Office of Education.
