Join the Liebman Institute for Science Innovation (LISI) at McHenry County College (MCC) to stretch your body—and your brain. “Sip, Stretch, and Yoga: Where Science Meets the Mat,” an interactive program that combines yoga with live scientific explanation, will take place Saturday, January 17 from 1–3 p.m. in the Activity Studio (A206) at the College, 8900 US Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
The event will feature a guided yoga session paired with a live anatomy demonstration. As participants move through poses, a scientist will explain which muscles are engaged, while the yoga instructor wears a muscle-mapping body suit to visually highlight the anatomy at work.
In addition to the class, attendees will enjoy a free raffle featuring science and wellness-themed prizes from local businesses, including t-shirts, tote bags, and free yoga classes. A themed photo board will also be set up for participants to capture selfies and celebrate their yoga knowledge. Refreshments, including mimosas, mocktails, and brunch bites, will be available after class.
Participation is limited to 30 people and is open to those 21 and older. Tickets are $33.85 per person, and advanced registration is required. No prior yoga experience is required; stretch pants and yoga participation are optional.
The event is presented by the Liebman Institute for Science Innovation (LISI), which creates engaging experiences that immerse the community in cutting-edge science topics.
