2023 Education to Empowerment Scholarship Recipient

Laura Gomez-Esparza overcame many hardships after moving to America as a young child. These circumstances motivated her to focus on her education and the opportunities available to her through continued learning. Laura wants to become an art teacher with the goal of helping young people fall in love with art as she has. After completing her studies at MCC, she plans on transferring to a four-year university. She is grateful for the support of her high school teachers, some of whom inspired her to pursue the field of education. Laura believes that educating is not just about standing in front of a classroom and sharing information—it’s about teaching students the opportunities being well-educated can bring.
