Classes offered in Business Writing and Etiquette Rules, Taking Meeting Minutes
While technology and communication methods are constantly evolving, standards for grammar and etiquette remain the same. Whether in an email, letter, report, or meeting minutes, the written word is still important in the business world and can sometimes be the first impression made on a potential client or employer. McHenry County College's Workforce, Community and Business Programs is offering “Business Writing and Etiquette Rules” and “Taking Minutes at Meetings” on Feb. 22 at the MCC Shah Center, located at Route 31 and Shamrock Lane in McHenry.
“Business Writing and Etiquette Rules” will teach how to write in a business environment. In addition to learning basic skills, participants will learn to support writing business letters, reports and emails. Etiquette rules such as tone, proper salutations, professional fonts, and proofreading will also be discussed. This course is being offered 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 22. Cost is $149. Make a day of it and stay for “Taking Minutes at Meetings,” which is being offered from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. Taking notes for a business meeting or preparing minutes doesn’t have to be an arduous task. This course will provide participants with meeting minute templates, necessary content and the tools to create meeting notes that are accurate, clear and concise. Cost is $149.
