Friends of MCC Foundation Seeks Silent Auction Donations to Benefit Students, Local Businesses[Wednesday, June 10, 2020]
The Friends of McHenry County College (MCC) Foundation is preparing to host its annual Golf Invitational on Monday, August 31. The popular event—a critical fundraiser for student scholarships—invites attendees to participate in 18 holes of golf at Crystal Lake Country Club and includes a light breakfast, a variety of appetizers, lunch, and two drink tickets. A silent auction featuring a variety of exciting prizes is also held as part of the fundraiser.
In past years, generous local businesses and individuals have supported the event by donating items for the auction. But with so many local businesses feeling the monetary effects of the recent stay-at-home guidelines, the Foundation wanted to find a way to give back to the businesses that have shown unwavering support for MCC students over the years.
"This year, instead of asking for donations of items, we'll be purchasing all the components of our auction packages from local businesses," said Jessica Rizza, development coordinator for the Foundation. "Members of the community are able to donate on our website to help fund a package. That way, these donations support both local businesses in need and student scholarships at MCC."
In addition to silent auction donations, interested individuals can support the Foundation's Golf Invitational by becoming a sponsor or registering as a single golfer for $350, a foursome for $1,400, or reception guest for $50. Tickets for the event are now available for purchase and space is limited.
Last year's Invitational hosted 116 golfers and 38 sponsors and raised over $90,000 for student scholarships.
