MCC's Black Box Theatre to Host Auditions for Production of British Comedy[Thursday, November 21, 2019]
The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) is excited to announce upcoming auditions for the hilarious British farce What's All This Then, written by Chicago actor, playwright, and MCC alum Bill Daniel and directed by Jay Geller.
The play follows Constable Madge Barker as she investigates the mystery of missing house cats in the town of Croydon, South London. Over the course of this funny and outrageous tale, she is forced to deal with inept colleagues, the media, a ten-year-old mayor, and an extraordinary “cat burglar” in order to solve the case.
Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, January 13 and 14 from 6 – 8 p.m. in The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14 in Crystal Lake. Callbacks will take place on Thursday, January 16. Please prepare two three-minute comedic monologues using a British accent.
Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, January 22 and will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 – 10 p.m. Performances will be March 5 – 7, 12 – 14, and 19 – 21.
Open roles include P.C. Madge Barker and P.C. Simon Blockley, constables in Croydon, South London; senior detective inspector Rhys Butterworth; famous reporter Leslie "Twist" Topp; Polly Perkins, cat burglar extraordinaire; and Lucinda Connington-Darby, the 10-year-old mayor of Croydon. In total, there are four available roles for women and two roles for men.
