MCC Speaker Series Offers Historic Look at Chicago Icon Marshall Field's on Nov. 21[Thursday, November 14, 2019]
MCC announces the second event in their exciting new speaker series, Experts and Insights, featuring MCC faculty members. The series is an opportunity for the community to experience first-hand the high quality of education and expertise provided by MCC's faculty as they present topics in their fields of study.
This month's presentation, Marshall Field's and Chicago, will be held Thursday, November 21 at 6 p.m. in the Luecht Auditorium. MCC history and business professor Sarah Sullivan will guide attendees through a nostalgic experience of this historic building and its intricate architecture, explore the activities of those who patronized the store, and explain the many ways Marshall Field & Company defined the department store as we know it.
"Marshall Field's is a piece of history that is interwoven with the memories and traditions of so many families in the area, especially at this time of year," said Sullivan. "This presentation tells the story of the unique elements that characterized this legendary department store."
Upcoming topics in the Experts and Insights series include: Let's Talk About Sex; Leadership, Communication, and the Recipe for Success; Get Happy! What Psychology Can Tell Us About Happiness; Wise and Well: A Healthy Balance.
The session begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Luecht Auditorium at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake. Light refreshments and appetizers will be provided starting at 6 p.m. Free and open to the public.
