MCC to Host Open House for Harvard Area Residents to Explore College[Friday, September 6, 2019]
Harvard residents who are interested in getting a taste of college life and setting educational and career goals are invited an Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14 at the Harvard Community Unit School District 50 Administrative Building. The location is 401 N. Division Street in Harvard.
The Open House will feature free food, music and the opportunity to enroll in a free introductory College Experience class (MCC 101) that will take place in Harvard this October and November. There will also be information on high school equivalency (GED) preparation classes, English as a second language (ESL) classes, and short-term classes and certificate programs that lead to high-paying jobs in such areas as automotive, manufacturing, transportation, welding, culinary and certified nursing assistant (CNA).
“We’re bringing the college to Harvard as a convenient alternative to commuting to the Crystal Lake campus,” said Laura Power, dean of Arts and Humanities. “Residents can explore college level work and learn more about the ways McHenry County College can help them set goals for higher education and their careers.”
