Guest Historian Barry Bradford to Lecture at MCC on "Over There: America in World War I"[Friday, April 19, 2019]
McHenry County College will host Barry Bradford, nationally-recognized speaker and award-winning historian, who will present “Over There: America in World War I,” a multi-media presentation from 12:30-2 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 in the Luecht Conference Center at the college. The college is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
This fast-moving and fascinating multimedia presentation will trace the roots of American involvement in “The Great War,” including how it reshaped the major political parties. Bradford will explain the military participation of American troops fighting on European soil. As he examines the effects of World War I on the American home front after the Doughboys returned, he will also discuss the length of the peace process and how it laid the groundwork for the rise of Adolph Hitler and the start of World War II.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome; no registration is required. For more information, contact the MCC Conference Center office at (815) 479-8764 or visit www.mchenry.edu/conferences.
