MCC to Host Automotive Open House, Scholarship Awards; Scholarship Deadline April 5[Wednesday, April 3, 2019]
McHenry County College invites students who are enrolled in or planning to attend automotive courses at MCC in the fall of 2019 to apply for the “Grow-a-Tech” 2019 student scholarships.
To be considered for the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in or planning to attend MCC in fall 2019; a high school student currently enrolled in an automotive program or a current automotive student at MCC. Scholarship candidates must submit a 500-1,000 word essay that discusses why he or she is interested in the automotive field, how the student envisions the automotive industry and in the future, what would they do to help a beginner technician. In addition, the candidate must submit a picture of himself or herself working on a car.
Several scholarships, between $250 and $1,000 each, will be awarded for the fall 2019 semester. Scholarship application deadline is 5 p.m. April 5. In a single email, submit the essay and picture with name, address and phone to: dave@mastertekautorepair and firstname.lastname@example.org.
The scholarships will be presented at MCC’s Automotive Open House at 4-7 p.m. on April 25. The event will feature automotive repair shop owners from the Automotive Service Association (ASA) of Illinois and many key automotive repair industry vendors who students will have the opportunity to network with.
The event will also feature demonstrations, displays, and activities from: ASA of Illinois, Automotive Seminars, Bumper to Bumper, Dorman Products, Douglas Automotive, Federated Auto Parts, Hunter Engineering, Interstate Batteries, Mastertek, Michell 1, Morrie and Sons Auto Repair, Power Stop Brakes, Snap On Tools, Standard Motor Products and Tenneco & Federal Mogul Motorparts.
