Voices Literary Magazine Receives First Place Recognition

McHenry County College literary arts magazine, Voices, received a first place award for the third year in a row from the American Scholastic Press Association's 2018 Contest/Review for scholastic yearbooks, magazines and newspapers. Voices features short fiction, poetry, visual art, video and music submitted by MCC students.

MCC is among 11 community college awardees with enrollments of 2,501-plus from throughout the U.S. who were recognized for first place.

“Our student writers, artists and musicians produced an excellent 2018 edition of Voices,” stated Matt Irie, MCC art instructor and Voices faculty advisor. “I’m proud to see our students get the recognition they deserve for their stellar work.”

Next year’s publication, Voices 2019, is expected to be completed in spring.
