MCC to Offer New Summer Ceramics Class[Monday, May 7, 2018]
Learn the fundamentals of working with clay slabs while constructing a bird house and functional ceramic pieces for everyday use at a new ceramics class offered by the Continuing Education Department at McHenry County College. The non-credit Summer Ceramics class takes place from 9 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. on Saturdays, June 2 through 23 in the MCC Ceramics studio, Room A145 at the college. The college is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
Beginners through experienced students are welcome. Working with ceramics can be messy, so closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty are required. Students will be notified when to pick up finished pieces. All supplies are included in the course.
Instructor is Dallas LaCassa, an MCC graduate who earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. As an undergraduate, he exhibited works in multiple shows and received the Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award. Currently, LaCassa teaches ceramics at the Centre of Elgin and at Sun City in Huntley.
Cost is $99. Use course code: NFA S50 001 when registering. To register, contact the MCC Registration Office at: (815) 455-8588, or register online at: www.mchenry.edu/myMCC. For more information, call Christine Barnes at (815) 455-8717 or at email@example.com.
