Guest Historian Barry Bradford to Lecture on Betty White

[Wednesday, April 18, 2018]

McHenry County College (MCC) will host Barry Bradford, nationally-recognized speaker and award-winning historian, who will present “Betty White: America’s favorite potty-mouthed grandma,” a multi-media presentation from 12:30-2 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, the MCC Luecht Conference Center. The college is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

Bradford’s charming and funny presentation will delve into the life of Betty White, who has been voted one of America’s most beloved entertainers year multiple times. People know her as the seemingly polite, but secretly scheming Sue Anne Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore show, the naïve and trusting Rose on Golden Girls, and the outrageous and somewhat loopy Elka on Hot in Cleveland. She has been a staple on talk shows, game shows and has performed in some popular movies.

What some people may not know about Betty White is that she was a pioneer in television, being the first woman to produce her own show. She is a best-selling author and tireless advocate for animals. Bradford will also talk about how White is widely considered to be one of the nicest people in all of show business. The presentation will also feature hilarious video clips and stories about Betty White.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome; no registration is required. For more information, contact the MCC Luecht Conference Center office at (815) 479-7570 or visit
