Workforce Solutions to Help Employers, HR Professionals[Monday, April 2, 2018]
McHenry County College Shah Center is committed to supporting McHenry County area businesses and organizations by providing necessary training for the development of their employees, contributing to the success of the business.
The following seminars and workshops are accepting registration:
HR 101: Provides managers the tools they need to understand HR-related policies, procedures and laws from the side of a leader in an organization. The training will cover typical handbook policies that the manager must now implement and monitor, including policies on at-will employment, equal employment opportunity, disciplinary action, work and break schedule, benefits, business ethics, and harassment. This interactive program will allow managers an opportunity to practice dealing with real workplace scenarios, giving them hands-on experience with challenging employee situations. This class is designed for new or existing managers who need an overview of HR-related responsibilities in their role. Workshop takes place from 8-10:30 a.m. on April 18. Cost is $109. Interviewing Strategies for Employers in Today’s Competitive Workplace: Explore how employment trends are impacting the interviewing process. Examine the styles and types of interviews used in today’s workplace. Participants will have to opportunity practice behavioral and other interviewing approaches as well as learn tools to share with their organization. This seminar is ideal for seasoned hiring personnel, employees, and leaders who have already conducted interviews and are looking for ways to improve the quality of their hiring in today's job market. Employee Pay and Performance for Small Biz and Nonprofits: Learn how to research and develop pay processes, provide performance feedback, and look at how related areas, such as job descriptions, impact an organization's ability to attract and retain employees. Special emphasis will be given to developing pay and performance guidelines with limited budget and personnel resources. This program is ideal for those in small businesses or nonprofits who do without designated human resources professional on their staff. Seminar takes place from 8-11:30 a.m. May 11. Cost is $159.
