The 36th Annual Friends of MCC Foundation Golf Invitational recently raised $122,000 for student scholarships and programs. The event, held June 12 at Boulder Ridge Country Club, takes place annually to further the Foundation's mission to provide financial support to MCC students, making education accessible and attainable through student scholarships.
“We’re so thankful for the support we receive each year from our sponsors and golfers,” said Brian DiBona, executive director of the Foundation. “Because of generous contributions like the ones raised at this event, we’re able to make a difference in the lives of so many. The Foundation will be awarding close to $850,000 in scholarships and program funding in the coming year, and we are getting closer and closer to our goal of being able to award $1 million per year. These donations not only impact the students themselves, but our community and local economy grow stronger when more people have access to further education.”
College president Dr. Clint Gabbard opened the event with some welcoming remarks, then scholarship recipient Liz Licona spoke about the impact of receiving support from the Foundation.
The outing included lunch, 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, and a reception featuring prizes, auction items, and an awards presentation. At the reception, MCC scholarship recipient Kaitlyn Mauck also shared her story about the positive impact scholarships made in her life.
132 golfers participated in this year’s event. The winning foursome—comprised of Keith Sloan, Mike Sisler, Ben Allen, and Craig Sloan—came in 12 under par. They made the Champion’s Hole putt to establish an additional $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Coilcraft.
The Presenting Sponsor of the event was the Foglia Family Foundation. Platinum Sponsor of the event was TC Industries. Also supporting the event were the following organizations: Robbins Schwartz, Demonica Kemper Architects, and Old National Bank as Reception Sponsors; Aptar Group, Home State Bank, Pepper Construction, and 365 Equipment and Supply as Player Gift Sponsors; Associated Electrical Contractors, Crystal Lake Bank & Trust, HRGreen, the LeCoque Family Foundation, MLCV Investments, Fifth Third Bank, Miller Verchota, Inc., the Gordon Flesch Company, and Express Employment Professionals as Tournament Sponsors; Coilcraft as Champions Hole Sponsor; Snap-On and The Harvard State Bank as Beverage Cart Sponsors; American Community Bank & Trust and Stryker as Pin Flag and Hole Sponsors; Alliance Contractors, Pavement Solutions, Rosati’s Woodstock, and Sikich as Hole Sponsors; Kunes Woodstock as Hole-in-One Sponsor; Edge Fitness as the Veteran’s Hole Sponsor; and Sponsored Foursomes by Scot Forge, Greg Gliniecki, Mike Klingenberg, Chicago Title, Weiler Engineering, LRS Recycles, JA Frate, Pavement Solutions, Sikich, and Stryker.
