McHenry County College to Host Entrepreneurship Pitch Night for High School Students

Watch McHenry County high school students compete to present the best and most innovative business ideas at McHenry County College’s Entrepreneurship Pitch Night, Monday, May 8 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Luecht Auditorium. The students are currently enrolled in MCC’s BUS160 Introduction to Entrepreneurship dual credit courses.

This year, the community is invited to attend the competition to vote for their favorite team to receive a People’s Choice Award. The event is free to attend.

“The three proposed products are all very interesting and could have the potential of being successful in the county,” said Sherry Ridge, instructor and department chair of the Business program at MCC.

The teams pitching and their products include Harvard High School, Rent-A-Hen; Marengo Community High School, Skyline; and Prairie Ridge High School, Freeze Fighter.

MCC’s Business/Marketing Department is an active partner with the county’s Dual Credit program, which allows high school students to take college-level courses in their high school classrooms and earn college credits. 11 McHenry County high schools currently offer MCC’s BUS160 Introduction to Entrepreneurship course, and dual credit is available at all of the local high schools. MCC’s Business/Marketing Department also offers Introduction to Business, Principles of Marketing, and Social Media Marketing as part of the Dual Credit program.
