Expand Career Possibilities with Classes in Administrative Office Management

Interested in taking your communication, organization, and technology skills to the next level in the new year? McHenry County College (MCC) offers an Administrative Office Management (AOM) program that provides the career training needed to become an essential member of any office team.

The AOM curriculum teaches a variety of applicable skills and includes classes in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and more. Skills can transfer to a wide variety of careers, but the most common jobs for AOM graduates include office managers; administrative assistants or managers; executive, legal, or medical secretaries; support specialists; and office assistants.

MCC offers an associate of applied science degree in administrative office management and two stackable certificates in administrative office skills and administrative office management, that may be applied towards the degree. Students will also have the opportunity to sit for one or more of the Microsoft Office Specialist™ (MOS) exams upon completion of advanced level application software courses.

“A recent article in the Financial Post found that over 1 billion people worldwide use a Microsoft Office product or service,” said Julie Freelove, Administrative Office Management instructor and department chair. “Having a Microsoft Office industry credential shows employers you have the skills needed to use the software effectively and efficiently. These certifications can open doors to advancement and new workplace opportunities.”
