Explore Developmental Psychology at MCC's Upcoming "Experts and Insights" Series

Toddlers and puppies—they have cuteness in common, but the way their brains develop couldn’t be more different. Learn fascinating details about how these two adorable family members seek and learn information at McHenry County College’s latest Experts and Insights educational speaker series “Your Toddler and Your Dog: A World of Difference” Thursday, September 15 at 6 p.m. in the College’s Luecht Auditorium, 8900 US Hwy. 14, Crystal Lake, IL. The session will be presented by psychology instructor Bill Zingrone.

“Your dog achieves 80% brain development in just 5 months, but a child’s brain is maturing all the way until ages 18-21,” said Zingrone. “Young children are truly information sponges. In fact, much of the conceptual model of the world we all carry in our heads is developed in just the first five years of life.”

Zingrone has been teaching Introduction to Psychology, Human Development Over the Lifespan, and Child Development at MCC for more than 15 years. He graduated with his Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Northern Illinois University in 2010, with research interests in cognitive development and evolution.

The session is free and open to the public. Registration is requested but walk-ins are welcome.

Interested participants can register and learn more at www.mchenry.edu/experts. If you need an accommodation or a sign language interpreter, please contact MCC’s Access and Disability Services department at (815) 455-8766 or disabilityservices@mchenry.edu

The Experts and Insights series originally started in 2019 as an opportunity for the community to experience the high quality of education and expertise provided by MCC’s faculty as they present topics in their fields of study.
