MCC's Kids and College Program Partners with National Inventors Hall of Fame to Host Camp Invention

McHenry County College (MCC) has partnered with the National Inventors Hall of Fame® to host Camp Invention® during their Kids and College program this summer. Camp Invention is a nationwide summer program that provides creative, open-ended learning opportunities for students entering grades K–6.

The four-day camp will include a rotation of four adventures—Spacecation, Robotic Aquatics, the Attic, and Marble Arcade. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., July 25-28 at MCC. Limited space is available.

“We are excited to partner with the National Inventors Hall of Fame by offering these unique, hands-on experiences through our Kids and College program,” said Tressman Goode, MCC’s coordinator of personal development programs. “Camp Invention will challenge the minds of our campers and allow them to explore their interests in becoming future inventors. We are thrilled to offer this experience right here at MCC.”

“This is truly an exciting partnership. The National Inventors Hall of Fame has a rich history of providing engaging and hands-on experiences for children,” added Kristin Thorsen, a regional program development manager for the National Inventors Hall of Fame. “Being a Camp Invention director for 18 years in McHenry County, I have been able to witness firsthand the energy and excitement this experience will bring to the participants.”

In addition to the Camp Invention sessions, MCC’s Kids and College program offers new classes each week from June 13 – July 25 at MCC. Summer 2022 courses are available for students entering grades 1–9 in astronomy, writing, street painting, movie making, crime scene investigation, rocket science and aviation, game design, welding, and more. All Summer 2022 classes will be held in person at the College.
