McHenry County College (MCC) has announced a new Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) partnership with Concordia University–Wisconsin (CUW). The partnership allows students to complete their entry-level courses in biology or chemistry at MCC, then continue on to CUW to complete their pharmacy coursework.
“Concordia originally reached out to us about forming this agreement because they draw some students from our area,” said Julie Sherwood, Coordinator for Articulation and Transfer at MCC. “They were aware of our recent investments in our science programs as part of the new Liebman Science Center and were impressed by our growing enrollment and commitment to our students.”
The partnership allows students to earn their PharmD in just six years. Students also receive a course equivalency guide that helps them easily navigate pre-pharmacy coursework at MCC, a dedicated admission counselor that will work with them to ensure they are competitive throughout the admission process, and preferred interview consideration when applying.
MCC is the first community college to establish a PharmD agreement with Concordia.
Students pursuing this pathway apply for admission to the CUW School of Pharmacy during the second year of their program. Students must maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and a C or better in all MCC coursework.
“The PharmD program partnership provides a unique and exciting opportunity for our students to complete their general education courses locally, at the community college tuition rate, then complete their doctorate in Pharmacy at Concordia,” added Amy Carzoli, Director of Enrollment Services at MCC. “We are thrilled to bring this transfer agreement to MCC and further support our students in reaching their future goals.”
