Area Students Invited to “Meet MCC” November 9 – 12

Area students of all ages are invited to learn more about McHenry County College (MCC) during a series of virtual events next week, November 9 – 12. “Meet MCC: Plan Your Next Step” is designed to answer questions students might have about available resources and support services at MCC.

Each night will explore a different topic, and prospective students are invited to attend as many sessions as they wish. Students are also able to pre-submit or ask individual questions at each session after the presentations are finished.

The week kicks off Monday, November 9 with “Getting Started at MCC” from 6–7 p.m. This session will provide a detailed overview of becoming a new student at MCC, from application through registration.

On Tuesday, November 10 from 6–7 p.m., the College will offer “¿Por qué es importante la universidad? Encontrando su siguiente paso en MCC (Why is College Important? Finding Your Next Step at MCC),” a session—presented in Spanish—that explores the reasons college is important for the next steps students plan to take in their career and personal lives. On the same night, also from 6–7 p.m., the College’s Office of Access and Disability Services, Sage Learning Center, and Library will discuss resources available to fit students’ unique needs and accommodations.

Representatives from MCC Student Life, Athletics, and Multicultural Affairs will discuss opportunities to get involved on campus on Wednesday, November 11 from 6–7 p.m., and the week wraps up on Thursday, November 12 from 6 – 7 p.m. with “Getting a Jump Start on Your Career and Educational Goals,” a panel discussing Dual Credit/Running Start opportunities for high school students as well as GED options, career services, and apprenticeships/internships.

All events can be accessed at Attendees of any session will earn an entry into a drawing for MCC swag and a waiver code for a free MCC application. Prospective students may pre-register once to attend all the events and submit their questions in advance. Those who register in advance will earn an extra entry into the drawing. Those who do not pre-register may still drop in to as many of the sessions as they wish.

This event takes the place of the College’s annual MCC Night, which was previously held in person on campus each November. The College will be hosting an additional event in the Spring, “Meet MCC: Prepare for Your Next Step,” focusing on the academic programs and classes available at MCC.
