For questions, reach out to recruit@mchenry.edu or call (815) 479-7732
- What kinds of degrees and certificates does MCC offer?
MCC offers five transfer associate degrees, over 80 associate in applied science degrees and certificate programs to begin your career, and an associate in general studies degree (not designed for transfer, but may transfer in whole or in part to some colleges and universities).
- What if MCC doesn't have the program I'm looking for?
You can take advantage of joint agreements with participating community colleges, allowing you to complete a program not offered at MCC. Oftentimes you can still take prerequisite classes at MCC before exercising the joint agreement. Learn more about our joint agreements.
- Do I need to take any testing to get into classes? Why?
Placement testing is necessary for some students to determine which classes they need to take. Placement tests help to ensure that you begin at the right level for you. Placement tests are not timed, so you can take as long as you need to ensure class success.
- Can I test out of any of the classes offered at MCC?
You may be able to earn college credit by taking CLEP test or proficiency tests - we offer the testing here at MCC. An MCC recruiter can help you set that up. Learn more about our CLEP and proficiency tests.
- How does tuition at MCC compare to other schools?
Tuition at MCC is significantly lower than private colleges and in-state public universities because of the local tax base. You can expect to pay at least half of what you would at a state university and sometimes less. Review our tuition rates.
- What kind of financial aid is available to me?
Many MCC students use federal and state grant programs (www.studentaid.gov). The Office of Financial Aid (A256) also administers a variety of scholarships.
