Let's Talk about Sex
Christine Grela Ph.D., Psychology Instructor

Light refreshments and appetizers will be provided starting at 6 p.m.
The session begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Luecht Auditorium, Building B

We'll discuss the importance, but lack of ease, around discussions of sexuality. The focus will be on how to have conversations with children and parents (middle aged and up) around typical issues like contraception and safer sex as well as more complicated ideas including healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and body image.

Christine Grela

Christine Grela has taught Psychology at McHenry County College for 16 years, and she has been researching and teaching on topics related to sexuality for 22 years. She graduated with her BA from Knox College where she completed her senior thesis on attitudes about homosexuality, and she graduated with her PhD from the University of Chicago after completing her dissertation on women's romantic relationships. She an enthusiastic proponent of education and enjoys sharing her knowledge with students, colleagues, and the wider community.

  • May 14: Wise and Well—A Healthy Balance

    Falls are a verified cause of morbidity and mortality in adults older than 65 years. However, just because they are common doesn't mean they have to be accepted as normal. There are some practical strategies that can be combined with education to decrease the fear and the likelihood of falling. Incorporating these strategies can improve the quality of life of those who are at risk. This presentation will address the causes and risk factors of falls and include interactive practical strategies to prevent falls and improve the overall wellness of the community.
