Marshall Fields and Chicago
Sarah Sullivan, History Instructor
Thursday, November 21 at 6 p.m. Luecht Auditorium, Building B
For over 150 years, Marshall Field and Company was Chicago's store, run by the most innovative retailer of the 19th century. Chicago natives could easily identify a Field’s shopping bag at a hundred paces, and Chicago brides weren’t really getting married until they registered at Marshall Field.
Sarah Sullivan has taught History and Business at McHenry County College for 22 years and was MCC's Faculty of the Year in 2016. She is also currently serving as a Road Scholar with the Illinois Humanities Organization. She presents publically on a variety of topics that focus on Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Hamilton, women in the colonial and antebellum periods, Henry VIII of England, and the founding generation. She holds graduate degrees in American History, Management and Human Resources. She loves nothing more than weaving a history story or two into every conversation!
