How do I create an ePortfolio and upload artifacts?

These steps will help you to create a new portfolio. First, log in to your Canvas account. Then click Account on the top left of your screen. In the left column, select Eportfolios.

It will say My Eportfolios at the top of the page. Select the Create Portfolio button in the upper right of the page.

Name the ePortfolio with your first and last name. After naming it, select the Submit button.

Under Sections on the left, select the Add Sections button. You will add five sections to your portfolio. Name the five sections in this order:

  1. Critical Thinking
  2. Effective Communication
  3. Information Literacy
  4. Quantitative Reasoning
  5. Social Responsibility

You are now done constructing the ePortfolio and can begin uploading artifacts.

To add an artifact to a section, select the section and select Edit This Page on the right.

There are four different ways to upload artifacts to your portfolio:

Rich Text Content lets you type your content into the text box and use the toolbar to format your text. This method is common for writing descriptions and comments.

HTML Embedded Content lets you place and embed web or programming codes and videos.

Course Submission is a way to select assignments that you submitted in your Canvas courses. Simply scroll through your past and current courses and select one you want to use an assignment from. You have access to all of the assignments you submitted online in Canvas. If you turned in an assignment on paper, it will not be available to you.

Image or File Upload is the most common method. You can upload artifacts from a file on your computer, flash drive, or cloud service. If you have an assignment you wrote and turned in on paper, you can scan it as a PDF and use this file upload option.

Any method is acceptable, but check after uploading to make sure that all artifacts display correctly.

Items that are not acceptable for the portfolio are links to Google Docs. If your assignment is a Google Doc, you need to save it as a PDF or Word document and upload it as described.
